The central Rotorua Lakes in the North Island, are the most noted trout lakes in New Zealand.
The fish and game regulalrly stocks the lakes with hatchery reared and fin clipped rainbow trout. There are numerous shore based trout spots to choose from.
The main methods to fish Lake Rotorua are trolling, shore fly fishing, spinning and artificial lure fishing such as jigging or glo bugging. Watch the rules in individual waters.
