On a fine day – a rarity! – at Tomahawk Beach, there are good pauas to have in the rocks either side of the headland.
The paua can be found in depths to 5m or so, but watch the visablity and the kelp, as both can play havoc for the inexperienced. If your not confident, stick to the rockpools at low tide, where the paua will be harder to find but still there for the persistant.
Always respect the rules, as fisheries officers are common here. 10 per person per day, 125mm minimum shell length.
